Discrete phonic and spelling sessions take place in every class. The teaching of phonics and early reading is structured around the Letters and Sounds Programme, supplemented by other resources. Dedicated phonics sessions are taught to all children in Willow class (EYFS – Year 2) every day. Throughout the school, spelling development is informed by the Babcock No Nonsense Spelling Programme and the statutory guidance and spelling lists (Curriculum 2014). This ensures continuity and progression for all children.
The national curriculum is a set of subjects and standards used by primary and secondary schools so children learn the same things. It covers what subjects are taught and the standards children should reach in each subject.
The National Curriculum sets out the minimum content for our curriculum. Please use the links below to find out what our children will be taught.
