PTA (Friends of Saxton School)

FOSS is made up of staff, parents and carers of pupils at Saxton School. FOSS primarily raises money to be spent on equipment, resources and experiences in order to enhance our children’s education but it also supports closer links between home and school, by bringing staff, parents and friends together socially.

Congratulations!

The June draw is a bonus month with much higher prizes. Tickets must be purchased by 22nd June.

All parents automatically become members of FOSS when their children join the school. Parents, family and staff can get involved in any way they like – any contribution is very welcome be it becoming a member of the committee, manning a stall at a fayre, attending an event or bringing in goodies for raffles. FOSS are very grateful for all the help they receive, without which they couldn’t raise the funds they do.

The FOSS committee consist of a number of elected members, the current FOSS committee consists of:

Chair: Gemma Bosomworth
Vice Chair: Eileen Watson
Secretary: Lucy Verlander
Treasurer: Julie Charge

FOSS meets approximately every 8 weeks in school usually at 7:30pm. Smaller sub committees are started in order to organise big events and these meet more regularly. You don’t have to be a committee member to attend the meetings, neither do you need to commit to attending regularly. FOSS love to hear new ideas and thoughts so please pop along to a meeting, give us a nudge in the playground, drop us an email (Foss.saxton@gmail.com) or follow us on Facebook (@friendsofsaxtonschool). FOSS is a registered charity.

FOSS is also a member of PTA UK (www.pta.org.uk) which is a national charity whose main objective is to advance education by encouraging the fullest cooperation between home and school.

Examples of previous FOSS fundraising events include Christmas and Summer Fayres, Party and Pamper nights, bun sales and Barn dances. Not all of our events are fundraisers but social, fun events for the children, parents and staff such as the leavers disco.

Decisions on how to spend the funds raised are taken at the meetings in conjunction with school. Recently funds have been spent on Forest School (outdoor learning space), a new sound system and working towards obtaining the Artsmark award. Finance information can be found on the minutes of each meeting.
