About Saxton School

Small enough to matter, big enough to care

We are a small school of 52 children in the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Saxton near Tadcaster. Our parents describe us as a ‘hidden gem’, and we are incredibly proud that we can offer a great education and caring environment to children within our small setting.

Children are taught in three mixed age classes, Willow (FS/Y1/Y2), Sycamore (Y3/Y4) and Maple (Y5/Y6). We keep class sizes small deliberately, because this maximises the level of adult to pupil interaction for every child. Everyone is known well, and is valued as an individual. Relationships are important to us and we work hard to foster these in all our interactions. We also enjoy strong relationships with parents and the community. Working together, we can provide the best possible educational experience for our children.
