a fantastic school Saxton Primary is We moved here in March and our biggest fear was moving our daughter to a new school when she was nearly in her last year of Primary school. She was super nervous and upset but as soon as she started at Saxton Primary school that all changed! The whole school made her feel so welcome and she has made some amazing friendships. She loves her little school so much.” (Parent)
Admissions: Join the Saxton Family
At Saxton CE Primary School, we take pride in the strong recommendation from our parents, with 97% endorsing our school to other parents (according to Ofsted ParentView – September 2023). We enthusiastically welcome inquiries from families considering Saxton, or our sister school Monk Fryston, as the place for their child’s primary education journey. We believe it’s vital for families to visit prospective schools, including ours, to fully grasp the ethos and vision of the school, and to determine if it’s the right fit for their child. Our children exemplify remarkable attitudes towards learning, behavior, and achievements, and we’re eager to share these qualities with you.

Applying for a Place After Reception Year
At times, your child may need to change schools, whether due to a relocation or other unforeseen circumstances. We understand that this can be a significant event for any child and should be approached with care and consideration. If you find yourself in such a situation, here’s how you can apply for a place at Saxton CE Primary School or Monk Fryston CE Primary School:
- Start with Communication: Before making any decisions, we strongly recommend discussing your concerns with the head teacher at your child’s current school. Open dialogue can often help resolve issues and ensure that changing schools is the best course of action.
- Contact Us: If it becomes apparent that changing schools is the right choice, our team is here to assist you. Feel free to reach out to us by phone, and we’ll guide you through the next steps. Additionally, we can arrange a visit for you to see our school in action, providing you with a firsthand experience of what we offer.
- Availability Consideration: Please be aware that some of our classes may already be at full capacity and cannot accommodate additional pupils. In such cases, we will discuss the situation with you and keep your contact details on file. This allows us to notify you if a place becomes available in the future.
In-Year Admission Process (for North Yorkshire Residents): If you reside in North Yorkshire and are seeking an in-year admission, you must complete an in-year preference form online. This form should list up to five school preferences. The local authority will review each preference, starting with the highest, and provide your details to the school. If your top preference is unavailable, they will move on to your next choice and continue down the list until a suitable place is offered. If none of your preferences can be allocated, the authority will seek an alternative place at a school reasonably close to your home. You also have the right to appeal for a place at any of the schools on your preference form.
For Non-North Yorkshire Residents or Those Moving In: If you are not currently residing in North Yorkshire but are requesting a place at a North Yorkshire school, please contact your home authority and complete their in-year preference form. If you are planning to move into North Yorkshire, you can still complete our online form, but we will need to know your moving date and your North Yorkshire address to process your application effectively.
Wrap-Around Care: We are pleased to offer before and after school care through Kids Planet, who provide transportation to and from school. For further details on wrap-around care, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the school.
We are committed to supporting your child’s education journey and ensuring a smooth transition, should you decide to join our Saxton family.
