Mr Clayton joined the Saxton team in September 2023,  following a thoroughly enjoyable time at schools in Knaresborough and Northallerton.  Having worked in education for the past 9 years, Mr Clayton has predominantly had teaching experience in KS2, working from Y3-6.  Most recently, he worked at a school in Northallerton as a Y3/4 teacher along with being Deputy Headteacher.  Prior to that, he worked in Y5 and 6 for 7 years, with a focus on ensuring children were ready to progress to secondary education.During his time teaching, Mr Clayton has led subjects including: PE, Maths, History, English, with his main passions being Maths and PE.  He has successfully developed maths at his previous schools and has a huge belief in physical activity for all, which is rooted in his undergraduate degree of Sport and Exercise Science.  Mr Clayton believes that teaching should be about developing the child as a whole, thinking about their: academic, social and emotional development.  He is an advocate for developing resilience in children, by creating a nurturing, yet challenging environment to learn in.Mr Clayton is a keen sports enthusiast, who plays football and enjoys running in his free time.  Along with this, he likes to walk in the Lake and Peak District, enjoying the peace of the countryside as opposed to the buzz of a city.
