Mr Weights started teaching in Gloucester and taught in schools in Cambridgeshire before moving to North Yorkshire in 2000. He was headteacher at Saxton from 2005 – 2010, following which he moved to the Local Authority as a schools adviser. He became headteacher of Monk Fryston School in 2013 and then returned to Saxton as Executive Headteacher when the schools federated in 2019.
Mr Weights is a very keen golfer and still plays to a good standard. He is also very musical and plays guitar and sings solo and in local bands.
