Eco News

Environmental education is important at Saxton School. We have a team of Eco Warriors who lead environmental work. Each year, they audit the school and take actions that enable us to retain our Green Flag status. We currently hold the Green Flag with distinction.

We are proud of the environment around our school. We have improved biodiversity and know that we are the home to a wide range of plants and animals. Our children support habitats by monitoring them and making improvements to them, including keeping them safe and free from litter. We have also installed a water butt in the outside area to collect rainwater and help reduce our water use.

We did a great energy-free day this term. It helped to raise awareness of how much energy we use. As a result, we have cut our weekly electricity use.

We have put a new policy in place to reduce single-use plastics. We have put posters on the laminator to remind teachers not to laminate too much, and this has cut down plastic use in our school.

We lanted lots of seeds in our woodland area to improve biodiversity, and are really pleased that this area has improved our grounds.
