Catch-up Funding

Covid Catch-up Funding

The DFE has provided  grant funding to schools to provide additional tuition for some pupils whose achievement slowed as a result of Coronavirus lockdowns. This is particularly targeted at support for disadvantaged pupils, but can be used for any pupil who would benefit. We receive two grants – the Recovery Premium Grant, and the School Led Tutoring grant. In total, these amount to £2,202 in the academic year 2021 – 22.

We have chosen to spend the funding on small group (1:2) tuition in English and Maths for identified pupils in KS2. This is done through school-led tutoring, using tutors who are appropriately qualified and experienced, and are evidenced to make a difference to children’s learning progress.

In the academic year 2020 – 21, the government allocated additional ‘Catch up’ funding to schools to help address gaps in learning that have arisen due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Our plan for spending this money was based upon research evidence and strategies that we know are successful. You can read how we used this spending here: Saxton School Catch Up Plan

In the event of school closure, we will endeavour to deliver our catch-up activities in line with our remote learning policy: Remote Learning Policy
